Sport plays a major part in the lives of our young adults at Hoe Bridge Senior. All pupils are exposed to – and actively encouraged to participate in – an exciting variety of top-level sports on a weekly basis, with ample opportunities to compete and enjoy.
The way we play sports is closely aligned with our Hoe Bridge values, prioritising respect for team members and the opposition, celebrating every competitor’s successes and acknowledging others’ strengths and weaknesses. With all participants playing to their best abilities, the contribution of the whole team is always recognised. Our unique Sports Academy Programme continues throughout Senior School, representing a fantastic opportunity to develop sporting talents in both curricular and a wider range of sports.
A busy inter-house, inter-school and regional fixtures list is arranged throughout the year, taking place both mid-week and at weekends. Matches are always competitive, with many of our teams gaining success. Periodical sports trips are also offered.
Our Senior pupils take advantage of extensive facilities including a sports hall, three large playing fields, all weather pitch, heated outdoor swimming pool, outdoor and indoor Cricket nets, a Cross-Country course and a grass and artificial Cricket squares. Extra-curricular sports and sports tours are also very popular.
Our record of regional and national successes is impressive and over the years, our teams have played at the highest of levels. Representation at national Rugby 7s, national finals for football, hockey, netball and cricket are the level our pupils regularly achieve. The development of sport within our Senior School will look to continue upon these successes.
We are very proud of the success we have as a school in Sport.
