At Hoe Bridge, the pastoral care of your child is in the best hands. Not only do our experienced pastoral staff and mental health first aiders support the children’s emotional needs, but all school staff are trained to identify and escalate potential emotional challenges, collaborating closely with our specialists to provide the most appropriate intervention.
For children joining our Nursery, the transition begins with a home familiarisation visit, establishing essential communication between parents and the school. This partnership continues as they progress through Hoe Bridge, with parents encouraged to discuss any concerns with class teachers…and vice-versa. There is a wide range of pastoral initiatives in place such as dedicated ‘friendship champions’ who ensure that all children are included and supported during lunch and playtimes.
Pre-Prep has a dedicated member of the leadership team focused on pastoral care, ensuring that our youngest children are correctly supported and feel secure.
In Prep and Senior Prep, each child is assigned a tutor who supports them in their day-to-day school life. Tutors serve as the first point of contact for both pupils and parents, encouraging children to take part in conversations about their wellbeing and navigate challenges with confidence.
A designated leadership team member oversees pastoral care in Prep and Senior Prep, ensuring all pupils feel happy and equipped to make the most of their school experience.
Our Senior school continues to provide robust pastoral support as pupils gain the greater independence and responsibility – but also the challenges – that come with increasing maturity. We are committed to fostering a caring environment where pupils feel safe, happy, confident and empowered to take ownership of their choices and ready to embrace adulthood.
By the time they reach Seniors, pupils will have learned to identify the right person to speak with when they need help. They have access to a team of tutors and staff, who provide continuous support. They also benefit from our Wellbeing Hub, where they can speak in confidence with a trusted adult about any concerns. We aim to equip pupils with the skills they need to take charge of their own future whilst knowing they have a reliable support network whenever needed.
A dedicated pastoral lead ensures that every pupil receives the care they need.
We are privileged to occupy our unique and historic grounds: a stunning 22-acre estate with fields, meadow, woods, river and pond, representing a hidden gem in the heart of Surrey.
