Promoting Healthy Bodies and Minds

Sport at Hoe Bridge Prep School

Sport is taken by dedicated teachers, often assisted by enthusiastic academic staff.

Sport is played in keeping with the Hoe Bridge Way, our culture of respect and expected behaviours. The contribution, effort and support of the whole team is paramount.

An extensive fixture list is arranged throughout the year. Whether a house or inter-school competition, matches are always competitive and many teams local, county and national recognition.

Our extensive facilities include a sports hall, three large playing fields, all weather pitch, heated outdoor swimming pool, outdoor and indoor Cricket nets, a Cross-Country course and a grass and artificial Cricket squares.

Extra-curricular sports are also very popular, played in mixed groups after school. We also organise a number of popular tours, both within the UK and abroad.

Sports Academy Programme

For children keen to further develop their sporting talents, we are excited to have launched our Sports Academy Programme, which introduces exciting activities such as sailing and swimming alongside expanded offerings in tennis, golf, skiing, and cricket. This initiative also complements the growth of our Active Weekend programme.

Competitive, Successful, but above all, Fun

Sports at Hoe Bridge Senior Prep

With sport being fundamental to healthy physical and mental development, it remains a pivotal element of the Senior Prep school week.

Every child continues to enjoy a minimum of an hour of sport daily, taken by specialist teachers. This mixture of skill-based activities and matches utilises the extensive on-site facilities we share with Prep: our sports hall, three large playing fields, all weather pitch, heated outdoor pool, outdoor and indoor cricket nets, Cross-Country course and grass and artificial Cricket squares.

We regularly enter inter-school competitions and other events, achieving impressive results. Every child also has the opportunity to join our exciting sporting trips, some in the UK, others to Europe and further afield.

Many teams have gained county recognition and gone on to win at both local level and IAPS National Championships. It is not unusual for individuals to receive sports scholarships to senior schools. Extra-curricular sports are also very popular, played in mixed groups at our after-school clubs under the guidance of specialist staff.

Our exciting Sports Academy Programme offers children a unique opportunity to develop their sporting talents, with a range of individual and team sports either extending their ability in curricular sports or introducing new ones.

Fixtures

An extensive fixture list is arranged throughout the year for both boys and girls in Prep from Year 4 as well as sports tours both within the UK and abroad. The children are constantly monitored and progression to higher teams is always possible.

Whether a house, inter-school competition or tour, matches are always competitive, with our teams following the principles of fair play. Many have gained county recognition and gone on to win at both local level and IAPS National Championships as well as receiving Sports Scholarships to Senior schools. Extra-curricular sports are also very popular, played in mixed groups at our afterschool clubs.

We benefit from extensive sport facilities across our 22 acres including two sports halls, three large playing fields, all weather pitch, heated outdoor swimming pool, outdoor and indoor cricket nets, a cross country course and grass and artificial cricket squares.

Because of the importance we place on sport at Hoe Bridge, it represents a substantial part of school life and the weekly timetable. Pre-Prep children have PE/Games twice a week plus swimming during warmer months increasing to four times a week in Prep, plus inter-school matches. Sport is taken by a team of specialist PE teachers throughout the school.
